Los Locos: more beach space while staying close to the city.
Los Locos is longer than Playa del Cura but still feels urban. The mix of fine sand and an extra rocky coastal section gives it a slightly different character.
When to choose Los Locos
It is a good middle option if you want a city beach but Playa del Cura feels too compact. You get more length, food and services along the avenue and you remain inside the built-up part of Torrevieja.
Sand and rock
Most of the beach is fine sand. Official information also describes an approximately 200-metre rocky section with ladders that make getting in and out of the water easier.
Services
Listed services include toilets, foot showers, lifeguards, parking, walkways, food options, a chiringuito, sunbed and parasol areas, plus a children's play area.
Accessibility and comparison
An assisted bathing service is listed for summer 2026, subject to reservation and green-flag conditions. Playa del Cura is more central; La Mata is much longer and better suited to a full beach day.
Works at Los Locos: check access and your bus
On 23 September 2026, the city announced the closure of the first works section between Calle La Sal and Curva del Palangre; Avenida de las Habaneras remains open for traffic continuing via Mariano Ruiz Cánovas, according to the notice. The city is maintaining beach and property access through protected passages; follow the signs on site.
Line 8 towards La Mata is diverted; the return to the centre was initially unchanged in the 23 September notice. Our regular maps and stop data do not include a confirmed diversion route: check your journey with the operator before travelling. Works are planned in four consecutive sections, with completion scheduled for 1 January 2028; the date may change.
